Johann Breiteneder

Johann Breiteneder (born September 29, 1921 in Liebenau ; † July 28, 1989 in St. Oswald near Freistadt ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Hafner was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1962 to 1983 .

education and profession

Breiteneder moved with his parents to Pergkirchen at an early age , where his parents bought a new property after selling their mountain farm. Breiteneder attended elementary school and then worked in his parents' farm until 1940. He was then used as a soldier in World War II . After his return from the war, he attended the two-year agriculture school in Ritzlhof from 1946 to 1948 . Then he worked for the warehouse cooperative Freistadt. After his marriage to the primary school director's daughter Marianne Gebert, Breiteneder acquired the Öllinger farm in Fünfling 10 in Sankt Oswald near Freistadt in 1955 and subsequently managed the farm in a relatively extreme location. With his wife, Breiteneder had three daughters and three sons.

Politics and functions

Breiteneder was involved in the cooperative system and was chairman of the supervisory board of Raiffeisenkasse St. Oswald from 1963 to 1976 and member of the board of directors of the Freistadt warehouse cooperative from 1969 to 1977 and chairman of the dairy cooperative from 1974. He was also active as a board member of the Schärdinger Dairy Association.

From 1995, Breiteneder became politically active as a local councilor of St. Oswald, and from 1961 to 1979 he was mayor of the market town. Within the party, he was active as ÖVP local party chairman in St. Oswald and main district party chairman of the ÖVP Freistadt. From 1976 he was also a board member of the Bauernbund. Breiteneder represented the ÖVP between December 14, 1962 and May 18, 1983 in the National Council.
