Hans Jürgen Sittig (born October 12, 1957 in Mayen , Eifel ) is a German writer and photojournalist .

Life

Hans Jürgen Sittig was born in Mayen in the Eifel in 1957. He attended the Görres-Gymnasium in Koblenz and the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium in Remscheid, where he graduated from high school in 1977. However, he had the experience that shaped his professional life a year earlier on a hike of around 230 km in the mountains of Swedish Lapland. The encounter with the nature of the north made him give up the plan to study musicology. After the Bundeswehr (where he later became a reserve officer as a paratrooper captain because he was also a private parachute jumper), he began studying biology in Bonn. After 6 semesters, however, he only followed the passion for photography and writing that had awakened on his trips to Lapland. With his Land Rover he scoured the far north for topics between wilderness and culture, with which he ultimately supplied 29 different magazines as a photojournalist and travel writer.

In 1989 he married his fiancée Gabriele Winter, with whom he has sons Hans Christian and Jan Martin. Since that year, Sittig has published numerous photo art calendars as well as various large-format Scandinavian illustrated books, in which he also partly included photos of his wife.

As an actor, Sittig has played in 18 different series on private television since 2001. From 2007 to 2015 he was part of the ensemble of the Wuppertal Taltontheater, where he performed, for example, the "Velasco" in "Barfuß im Park", the papal kidnapper "Sam Leibowitz" in "The day the Pope was kidnapped" or the "Miller" played in Schiller's "Kabale und Liebe".

In 2011 Sittig made his debut as a crime writer with his Eifel crime thriller "Mordwald", which was followed by "Tod am Laacher See" in 2012, "Bitburger Blut" in 2014 and "Between Eifel and Hell" in 2017. As an Eifel author, he also published the text and photo book "Traumland Eifel" in 2012, the volume "The impressive history of the Eifel ..." in 2013 and "The Eifel for the whole year" in 2016. His geographically unbound volume of poetry "Honigmuslocken" was published in 2015.

After a SWR portrait as an Eifel author in 2012, the TV broadcaster selected him in 2013 as the representative of the Eifel for a small series from Rhineland-Palatinate.

Hans Jürgen Sittig is a member of the association of German-language crime authors Das Syndikat and in the association of photojournalists FREELENS. He is divorced and lives in Bonn again.
