Hans Martin Krämer

Hans Martin Krämer (* 1972 in Wuppertal - Elberfeld ) is a German Japanologist .

Life

Krämer studied history, Japanese studies and philosophy at the University of Düsseldorf , Sophia University and the Ruhr University Bochum . After research stays at the University of Tokyo , Harvard University and the International Research Center for Japanese Culture in Kyoto , he was Junior Professor for Japanese Studies at the Ruhr University Bochum from 2008 to 2012 . Since 2012 he has been teaching as Professor of Japanese Studies (focus on history / society) at Heidelberg University .

His main research interests are political history, the history of education, the history of religion and the history of science in the 20th century and early modern times.
