Hans Neugebauer

Hans Edgar Neugebauer (born November 17, 1916 in Karlsruhe , † July 30, 1994 in Cologne ) was a German opera director , set designer and singer with a bass voice .

Life and theater career

Neugebauer is the son of the opera singer Helmuth Neugebauer . After graduating from high school, he studied music, singing (bass) and stage design. His professional positions as an opera director include the cities of Basel, Chicago, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt a. M., Glyndebourne, Hamburg, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Cologne, Mannheim, Nuremberg, Schwetzingen, Trieste, Wiesbaden.

Neugebauer was also the director of the world premiere of Bernd Alois Zimmermann's opera The Soldiers (Cologne 1965).
