Hans Eberhard Quenzer studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich and Karlsruhe . During the Second World War , he made a name for himself as a designer of German combat aircraft . He specialized in the development of resilient airframes that could continue their flight despite heavy fire. He worked for two years at Messerschmitt GmbH and twelve years, until 1945, at Focke-Wulf . Quenzer was the first engineer to lead the design of new types and played a key role in the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 and the Fw-190 Jäger . He also worked on the drafts of the Fw 187 and Fw 189 .

post war period

After the war, from November 1945, the French gathered a group of German engine specialists in their zone of occupation, including those from BMW , Daimler-Benz and Focke-Wulf. Quenzer also belonged to this group. Joseph Szydlowski , founder of Turboméca , campaigned for this group to design and manufacture engines for his company. So it came about that Quenzer developed compressors for turboprop engines at Turboméca. Later he also designed buses and cars for various German corporations.

Relocation to America

In 1954 he and his family moved to California . This was done as part of Project Paperclip and similar programs, which brought over 1,500 German and other foreign scientists, technicians and engineers to the United States. He began working for the Lockheed Corporation's military research division, where he evaluated test material from various types of aircraft and weapons.
