Günter Hase (born April 30, 1930 ) is a former German boxer .

Life

Hase was a professional boxer from October 1953 to mid-September 1961. In January 1956 he was in the Hamburg Ernst-Merck-Halle  by a narrow point victory over Werner Handke, who also came from Berlin, German welterweight champion. Hase had particular advantages over his opponent in the initial phase as well as in the ninth and tenth rounds.

In his first title defense, Hase met Ernst Zetzmann in February 1956 , the fight ended in a draw, Hase remained German champion. In August 1956 there was a rematch between Hase and Handke. In the fifth round Hase sent his opponent to the ground with a liver hook , who injured his back and was unable to continue fighting.

At the end of November 1956, Hase fought in the middleweight division against Peter Müller for the German championship title, but lost the fight , which was held in front of 5,000 spectators in the Berlin Sports Palace , clearly on points. In the third round, Hase went down, but recovered, but couldn't turn around against the physically stronger Müller. It was Hase's first defeat as a professional boxer. In March 1957 Hase was in the ring for the first time at an event abroad, in Paris he lost to Seraphin Ferrer (Spain) by knockout in the twelfth round.

In August and September 1957, the Berliner fought two fights in the Argentine  capital Buenos Aires , but lost both. Hase had to surrender his German welterweight championship title in April 1958: He went down several times in Munich against Ernst Zetzmann, in the eleventh round Hase's corner gave up the fight. In February 1961 Hase made an attempt to once again become German welterweight champion, was defeated in Cologne but Helmut Mistol  on points.
