Hans Riexinger (born December 18, 1927 in Kochendorf ) is a local researcher from Bad Friedrichshall- Kochendorf.

Life

Riexinger was a post manager by profession and has published many articles about his hometown Kochendorf out of private interest. In addition to over 100 articles such as in the yearbook for Swabian-Franconian history, he was, like Karl Hugo Popp and Lothar Hantsch, involved in the three volumes with essays on the history of Bad Friedrichshall, which appeared from 1983 to 2001. Together with his son Klaus he researched the history of the Kochendorf concentration camp . He is also considered the discoverer of a small Roman fort in Kochendorf , which he discovered in 1961 through photographs and confirmed in 1962 through excavations. In 1987 he found further traces of Roman settlement, later he put together an exhibition on Roman history in the area around Bad Friedrichshall. Even in old age, Riexinger still works as a volunteer archivist in his hometown as well as a monument conservator for the northern district of Heilbronn .

Riexinger is married and has two sons with his wife Erni Riexinger.

Awards

In 2012, Hans Riexinger was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Archeology Prize for his life's work .
