Hans Ruttner

Hans Ruttner (* 1918 ; † 1979 ) was an Austrian beekeeper .

Hans Ruttner was the son of the limnologist Franz Ruttner (1882–1961) and a graduate of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. Together with his father and brother Friedrich (1914–1998) he founded a working group "Bee Genetics" of the Lunz Biological Station in Lunz am See in 1946 , which was spun off as the "Institute for Apiculture" in 1957 and its own building in 1970, also in Lunz received. In 1948 the first evidence of multiple mating of the queen bee during the wedding flight took place here . Until his death in 1979, Ruttner was director of the Federal Apiculture Institute.
