Hans Schmeisser

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Schmeisser was a German weapons designer.

life and work

Hans Schmeisser's father Louis Schmeisser (1848–1917) was a weapons designer. The development and production of machine guns by the Bergmann company in the period up to the First World War are closely associated with his name . Hugo Schmeisser also received his basic training at Bergmann.

Together with his brother Hugo , he founded the “Industriewerk Auhammer Koch und Co.” in Suhl in 1919 . Given the circumstances in Germany after the First World War , this company did not do well from the start. During this time the first contact with CG Haenel in Suhl took place. This is the beginning of a 20 year collaboration. To safeguard his patent rights, Hugo and Hans Schmeisser founded a second company in the summer of 1922 under the name " Gebrüder Schmeisser " in Suhl.

The Schmeisser brothers remain authorized signatories of the Haenel company, although they are shareholders and in fact managing partners of the company.
