Hans Stecher (also Hanusz ) was a master builder in the Middle Ages .

Act

Stecher received the construction supervision for the new construction of the town hall in Lemberg . The solemn laying of the foundation stone took place in the presence of the future Polish King Jan Olbracht on August 10, 1489, who was in Lemberg at the time. In addition to a sum of money, he also received five yards of fabric for his services as a site manager . He carried out the work together with a carpenter and 17 journeymen. The construction of the new bell tower took three years and in 1491 a temporary wooden clock chamber was added to it and a bell weighing more than 11 hundred pounds was hung in it. Both the tower and the entire town hall are no longer preserved, only the inscription can be seen on old drawings that were attached to the west side of the tower at the level of the second floor. There it read in Gothic letters: Master Hans Stecher anheb des Bau [magister]. Anno Domini MCCCC • XCI . In some sources he was also referred to as "Hans Blecher", which goes back to the badly legible inscription. There it says “Master Hans Blecher lift (?) The construction ladder. Anno Domini 1491 “Nikiel Klocz (1490) is named here as his contemporary. Since a Georg Weiner was appointed Architectonicus (master builder) in 1506, he could have died that year or left Lemberg.

In 1493 he built the choir of the Latin Cathedral , which was built between 1478 and 1481 according to a design by the architect Peter Stecher.
