Hans Stecher (bricklayer)
Hans Stecher († 1676 in Bieberstein ) was a Baroque bricklayer and constable in Freiberg.
Hans Stecher was born the son of master bricklayer Wolf Stecher and acquired citizenship in Freiberg (Saxony) on May 6, 1661 . There he was council mason from 1670 to 1676. In 1676 he led the renovation of the church in Bieberstein, during the consecration of which he died in an accident when, in accordance with his office as constable, he wanted to fire a few solid shots from the tower with a small cannon, but provided it with too large a charge so that it was produced a violent recoil that threw him through the door and onto the pavement. He lay lifeless with a shattered skull. Stecher had a son of the same name with whom he had lived since 1675 at Nonnengasse 19 in Freiberg.
