Hans Treyer

Hans Treyer, also Hans Träyer (* before 1500 in Lausen ; † July 8, 1529 in Bern ) was a Swiss Baptist .

Life

Hans Treyer worked as a carpenter and, together with Hans Hausmann (also Hans Seckler), belonged to the group of Basler Anabaptists who brought Anabaptism to Bern from 1527. After he was arrested and deported there, he preached in the Biel area .

On January 22, 1528 he took part in a conversation with Reformed Bernese theologians with Jörg Blaurock and Hans Pfistermeyer on the part of the Anabaptists.

From the beginning of 1529 he was active again in Bern and in May 1529 he was arrested again and interrogated together with Hans Hausmann and Heini Seiler from Aarau and sentenced to death on July 8, 1529 and drowned at the Blood Tower .
