Hans Ulrich Glöckler (* 1560 in Waldshut ; † October 20, 1611 in Überlingen ) was a Southwest German cabinet maker and sculptor .

Life

Hans Ulrich Glöckler was born in Waldshut in 1560. Several members of the Glöckler family can be traced back to Waldshut as cabinet makers, sculptors and violin makers in the 16th to 18th centuries. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter with Hans Stocker in Tiengen , Hans Ulrich Glöckler had a man-legal and single letter issued by the City Council of Waldshut on June 13, 1581. In 1582 Hans Ulrich Glöckler acquired citizenship and property in Überlingen .

In the decades to come, Hans Ulrich Glöckler worked in Überlingen, Upper Swabia and the Lake Constance area as a cabinet maker, altar carver and sculptor. His clients included the municipality of Überlingen and the Counts of Hohenzollern and Fürstenberg . Hans Ulrich Göckler is regarded as the most important representative of early mannerism in the Lake Constance area. On October 20, 1611, Hans Ulrich Glöckler died in Überlingen from the plague that was rampant that year .

A descendant was the carpenter Hans Jakob Glöckler of u. a. the Wolfach Castle embellished.
