Hans Walter Hennicke

Hans Walter Hennicke (born January 22, 1927 , † October 10, 1993 ) was a German ceramist and professor at the Technical University of Clausthal .

Life

Hans Walter Hennicke had been employed at the Institute for Stones and Earths (Non-Metallic Materials) at the Bergakademie and the Technical University of Clausthal since 1964, and he made a significant contribution to its structure. From 1974 to 1992 he was a rotating director of the institute. From 1988 to 1990 he was rector of Clausthal University of Technology. In 1972 he became a member of the city council and the joint municipal council. In 1992 he was elected mayor of the Upper Harz municipality. Since 1965 he was a member and since 1970 chairman of the board of trustees of the Protestant student residence in Clausthal.

Awards

Hennicke was the holder of the Seger plaque of the German Ceramic Society, owner of the Louis Vielhaber commemorative coin of the Association of German Email Experts e. V., member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society and Honorary Professor of the Iron and Steel University in Wuhan , China.

The German Ceramic Society has been awarding the Hans Walter Hennicke Prize to young ceramists since 1995 in recognition of his work.
