Hans von Gemmingen, called Giener

Hans von Gemmingen, known as Giener, was the bailiff in Bruhrain in the 15th century . He was brother-in-law of Bishop Matthias von Rammung and became the guardian of the descendants of his brother Hans.

Life

He was the son of Friedrich von Gemmingen, called Giener. In 1430 he received the 36th part of the great wine tithe in Bruchsal from Margrave Jakob I of Baden. In 1440 he received half the grain tithe for himself and his brother Dietrich in Rohrbach am Gießhübel . He owned the half grain tithe in Rohrbach in 1450 and 1477. He also owned a farm in Rohrbach and rights in Eppingen . In 1464 he sealed the sale of the bathroom in Sinsheim from Schultheiss Flamm to Count Palatine Otto II of Pfalz-Mosbach .

In 1465 he accompanied his brother-in-law, Bishop Matthias von Rammung , in taking possession of him in Landeck . When the brother of the bishop, Hans von Rammung, died in Daisbach in 1468 , Hans von Gemmingen of the Palatinate was appointed guardian of the eponymous nephew Matthias Rammung with the consent of the bishop. After the death of the bishop in 1478, Hans von Gemmingen took part in the consecration of the subsequent bishop Ludwig von Helmstatt , along with cathedral provost Ulrich von Helmstatt, Eitel von Sickingen, Hans von Helmstatt, Werner Horneck and Philipp von Angelach . A little later he directed the homage to the bishop in Udenheim . After the death of the younger Matthias von Rammung († 1506), who was married to Ursula von Rammung († 1503), a Hans von Gemmingen was again appointed guardian of the Rammung descendants.

Hans von Gemmingen was probably married twice. One marriage was with Margaretha von Rammung, the sister of Bishop Matthias von Rammung, which is documented for 1464. Another wife named Katharina Münchin von Rosenberg.
