Coordinates: 22 ° 40 '27 "  S , 14 ° 31' 44"  O The Hansa Hotel is a 4 star - Grand Hotel in Namibia coastal town Swakopmund . Along with the Swakopmund Hotel, it is one of the most luxurious accommodation options in town.

The name of the hotel is based on the term “ Hanseatic League ”, as Swakopmund was already an important town for merchants back then.

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, master hairdresser Paul Miersch opened his new salon in a large building. As many of the rooms were not in use, he rented them out to travelers and founded the Hansa Hotel in 1905 in a building near the current hotel.

In 1954 the hotel was taken over by the Rummel family, completely renovated in the colonial style and expanded with a restaurant.

Facilities

The entire interior of the hotel is in a colonial style. It has 49 double and twin rooms, five family rooms and four suites.

The hotel has one of Namibia's leading gourmet restaurants and a bar. In the courtyard there is a small garden with a fountain.
