The Swakopmund Hotel (full name Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Center ) is a 4-star - luxury hotel in Swakopmund , Namibia . It is operated by the South African hotel group Legacy Group ; the historic main building continues to be owned by TransNamib .
The hotel's reception, bar and administration are located in the historic Swakopmund train station . After the station building was closed in 1993, extensive renovation and renovation work took place. Among other things, a swimming pool was built on the area of the former railroad tracks and a large extension to the north, which now houses the guest rooms. To the west, an extension was built, the entertainment center , in which the Mermaid Casino , the Platform One restaurant , a fitness studio and cinema are located.
The hotel opened in 1994 and has since hosted various trade fairs and congresses. Among other things, the elections for Miss Namibia 1995 and Miss Universe 1995 took place here. The hotel has received numerous awards and prizes since it opened.
