The living / studio building Hansastraße 5 is in the district Bettrath-Hoven in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

The building was built in 1858 as an extension of an existing school building. It was entered under no. H 049 on August 30, 1988 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

architecture

The former school building is a three-part brick building facing the eaves , which was built in three phases. The oldest building section is the middle wing ( Hansastraße 3 ), which was built in 1836 and added another floor in 1879 , to which a two-story building (Hansastraße 5) was added in 1858. In 1867 the extension at Hansastrasse 1 was built on the other side of the central wing .

Contemporary extension of a rural elementary school building with a simple design characteristic of the time it was built, in which part of the local history materializes.
