Hanwha is a South Korean company with headquarters in Seoul .
Hanwha is one of the largest corporations in South Korea and is structured as Jaebeol . Hanwha was founded in 1952. The chairman is Kim Seung-yeon. The company operates in various economic sectors: chemicals, armaments, insurance, logistics, telecommunications, shipbuilding and construction.
Hanwha owns the Seoul Plaza Hotel and other hotel complexes in Pusan and Jeju-si . At Hanwha includes the Mall The Galleria in Seoul.
Hanwha is also the owner of the South Korean baseball team Hanwha Eagles .
At the end of August 2012 it was announced that Hanwha would take over the German solar company Q-Cells . The Federal Cartel Office still had to approve the purchase agreement.
After approval, Hanwha took over large parts of the business operations of Q-Cells SE with effect from October 16, 2012 and incorporated them into a newly founded company called Hanwha Q-Cells . The transaction comprised the location in Bitterfeld-Wolfen with research, development and production, the production location in Malaysia and the sales companies in the USA, Japan and Australia. Around 1,300 of the around 1,500 employees worldwide will continue to be employed.
