The Happy Photo GmbH is an Austrian company based in Freistadt , which develops photos and print products such as producing photo books. HappyFoto is by its own account the market leader in the field of photo editing, photofun production and photo book production by post in Austria , the Czech Republic and Slovakia and looks after more than 500,000 customers from Freistadt. A maximum of almost 3 million image files per day are processed into photo products in Freistadt, which are then transmitted by the customer via the Internet. In the high season, more than 15,000 photo books are produced every day.
history
HappyFoto was founded in 1978 as a one-man business. The company, which is 100% owned by the Kittel family, has been producing photos by post for more than 30 years. In the first years of its existence, HappyFoto was mainly involved with special jobs such as B. occupied the elaboration of aerial photographs, today the company offers a wide range of services and products. In 1981, HappyFoto added the amateur photo elaboration with scanner printers to its program. In 1987 the HappyFoto elaboration was added by mail. Due to the growth, the company moved to a larger company building in 1993. In 1998 HappyFoto was the first company in the world to switch the entire production of 35mm images to the Agfa Dimax process (digital image optimization), which was unique at the time . In autumn 2004 HappyFoto was the first large photo laboratory worldwide in which analog negatives were digitally exposed, which further improved the quality. On May 14, 2011 HappyFoto celebrated its 33-year company anniversary and at the same time the opening of a new production hall . The production area was expanded from around 2400 m² to around 5040 m².

environmental Protection
Environmentally relevant aspects were taken into account in the planning and execution of the site. In 1996, HappyFoto was the first large photo laboratory worldwide to receive the EN ISO 14001 environmental certificate for environmentally friendly photo processing.
Political commitment
As part of the 2017 National Council elections in Austria , the company supported the ÖVP in the election campaign with a donation of 35,000 euros . According to a trend article, Bernhard Kittel, managing director himself described his commitment as not well thought out. He was impressed by the statement that (note: after the National Council election in Austria 2017) the debt repayments of the state would begin. But he was now disappointed, said Kittel, "because with the current economic situation it should be possible to do more than just cosmetics."
