Haptic touch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haptic Touch is a technology for smartphones from the US company Apple for its iPhones , which was introduced to the product line with the iPhone XR . It offers the user the option of carrying out various functions by pressing and holding.

Haptic Touch is activated with a long tap and is available wherever 3D Touch was also available. This means that with Haptic Touch it takes longer than with 3D Touch until the function is executed. The pressure sensitivity can no longer be adjusted.

Unlike 3D Touch, Haptic Touch is also available on Apple's iPads , but due to the lack of a Taptic Engine without haptic feedback. The range of functions can vary depending on the device. The iPhone SE (2020) does not support Haptic Touch to the same extent as the expensive iPhones.

With the introduction of iOS 13 , 3D Touch was deactivated on all supported iPhones and replaced by Haptic Touch.
