The iPhone XR (original spelling with ? or small caps instead of the usual R) is a smartphone from the iPhone series from the US company Apple . It was presented on September 12, 2018 during the Apple event along with the more expensive iPhone XS in the Steve Jobs Theater . It is the successor to the iPhone 8 .
history
According to Apple, the iPhone X introduced in 2017 should be the basis for the following generations of iPhone. In 2018, the new design, which is characterized by a frameless front without a home button, was used in other models. In addition to the iPhone XS Max, which corresponds to the case size of the earlier Plus models with a 5.5 inch screen, the iPhone XR no longer has a frame.
In terms of both price and case size, it is in the middle of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. It marks the entry of the new design into the previous main category of the iPhone.
Characteristics
The LCD is 6.1 inches . Like the iPhone X , the iPhone XR does not have a home button , but Face ID . An A12 Bionic is installed, the same processor as in the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max . In contrast to the iPhone XS / Max, the iPhone XR only has 3 GB of RAM. The "X" in the name is a Roman numeral for the number ten, Apple does not give any meaning for the letter that follows.
In contrast to the iPhone XS / Max, the iPhone XR has a liquid retina display with a lower pixel density of 326 ppi and an aluminum housing is built in instead of the stainless steel housing.
The iPhone XR is certified according to protection class IP67.
The iPhone XR is available with 64, 128 and 256 GB of internal storage in six colors (black, white, yellow, red, blue and coral). The red iPhone XR is an official (PRODUCT) RED product. With the appearance of the iPhone 11 in September 2019, production of the 256 GB version of the iPhone XR was discontinued.
It had the longest battery life on any iPhone model when it was released. At 194 g it is also the heaviest iPhone model in this size (without Max, Plus or iPad).
