The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are smartphone devices from the US company Apple . As the eleventh model variant in the iPhone series, they were presented by Tim Cook on September 12, 2017 as part of a public keynote and have been available since September 22, 2017.

On April 15, 2020, Apple ceased sales. The iPhone 8 was replaced by the iPhone SE (2nd generation) . The “plus” version was dropped without replacement.

The design of the iPhone 8 does not differ significantly from its predecessor, the iPhone 7 , but the back is now made of glass, which means that it can be charged using Qi chargers . The antenna strip can now only be found on the aluminum frame.

Both models have the A11-Bionic - SoC , which is also in iPhone X is used. The screen size of the iPhone 8 is 4.7 inches and the iPhone 8 Plus is 5.5 inches. The iPhone 8 Plus has a dual camera , the iPhone 8 does not, both with 12 megapixel resolution.

While Apple had significantly increased the battery capacity of the previous model, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus use a smaller battery again. However, according to the manufacturer, the runtime has not changed.

As both models are also after its predecessor iPhone 7 of protection certified IP67.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were initially available with 64 GB and 256 GB of non-expandable memory, after the introduction (keynote) of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro on September 10, 2019, the 256 GB variant was replaced by a variant replaced with 128 GB.

iPhone 8 Plus

As with the predecessor iPhone 7 Plus , the technical specifications of the iPhone 8 Plus are largely identical to those of the iPhone 8. The differences are:

• The iPhone 8 Plus has a larger screen diagonal of 5.5 ″ , with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels (corresponds to 401  ppi ).
• The housing dimensions (H × W × D) are 158.4 mm × 78.1 mm × 7.5 mm.
• It has 3 gigabytes of RAM .
• The battery life is longer than that of the iPhone 8. According to Apple, it can last up to 21 hours of talk time (in the 3G network) and up to 13 hours of Internet use (3G or LTE). The battery has a capacity of 2691 mAh at 3.82 V.
• The iPhone 8 Plus has a second telephoto lens camera (also called dual camera), which also enables portrait photos with a blurred background ( bokeh ).
