The iPhone 5 is the sixth smartphone in the iPhone series from the US company Apple and was presented by Phil Schiller on September 12, 2012 .
The manufacturer's own iOS 6.0 or higher operating system is used on the iPhone 5 . It is mainly operated by finger touches on the multi-touch screen .
The iPhone 5 was launched on September 21, 2012 in Germany and on September 28, 2012 in Liechtenstein , Austria and Switzerland in black and white with 16, 32 or 64 GB . According to Apple, five million devices were sold worldwide on the first weekend.
Sales were officially discontinued when the successor iPhone 5s was released on September 10, 2013.

In Germany, the LTE interface of the iPhone 5 works with a theoretical maximum data rate of 100 megabits per second (Mbit / s) when downloading exclusively in the Deutsche Telekom network.
