The iPhone XS (spelled with ? or small caps ) is a smartphone from the iPhone series from the US company Apple . It is the successor to the iPhone X and was presented to the public on September 12, 2018 during the Apple event together with the cheaper iPhone XR in the Steve Jobs Theater . It was sold from September 21, 2018 and is also available with a larger screen (6.5 ") than the iPhone XS Max . With the introduction of the successor models iPhone 11 and 11 Pro , production of the iPhone XS and XS Max was discontinued after one year.

properties

The XS model has a 5.8-inch OLED screen, two 12-megapixel rear cameras and a 7-megapixel front camera. It is certified to be water and dust resistant according to the IP68 standard.

The iPhones XS, XS Max and the XR, which was released at the same time, are the first Apple models to record videos with stereo soundtracks. Both devices are based on the in-house processor Apple A12 Bionic .

Internationally, dual SIM is supported in iPhone XS and XS Max in the form of a nano SIM and an eSIM . In mainland China , Hong Kong and Macau , the iPhone XS Max comes with a dual nano-SIM tray and no eSIM. The iPhone XS model does not accept an eSim there.

Model name

According to the manufacturer, "the X in the name is a Roman numeral for the number ten". The manufacturer gives no meaning for the letter S behind it.
