iOS 13 is the 13th version of iOS , Apple's mobile operating system . It was presented on June 3, 2019 at the Worldwide Developers Conference together with watchOS 6 , tvOS 13 , macOS Catalina and iPadOS , the latter being an enhanced iOS 13 version for the iPad . iOS 13 was released on September 19, 2019 (iOS 13).

Changes

On the one hand, the new version of the operating system offers improvements in performance. Apps should start up to twice as fast. On the other hand, many of the standard apps have been revised. According to Apple, for example, the reminders app has been completely rewritten and offers new types of lists and new functions for entering todo entries. New security and data protection functions have also been introduced. In this way, location services can be released even more precisely. With the new system-wide dark mode, apps with a darker appearance can be used. Apple's Photos app offers new functions for editing video and photo recordings. The Siri assistant service offers improved speech quality thanks to a so-called neural engine that creates all sentences and words automatically instead of using recorded audio files.

After the merger of iPhone OS and iPad OS in 2010, Apple separated the operating systems of the iPhone and the iPad with this iOS version . The operating system for the tablet is now being marketed as iPadOS .
