iPhone OS 3 is the third version of iOS , Apple's mobile operating system . It was announced on March 17, 2009 and released on June 17, 2009. This was the last major release named iPhone OS before it was renamed to iOS . IPhone OS 3 was followed by iOS 4 on June 21, 2010 .
Innovations
A major innovation is the spotlight function. With it, users can find certain information on their device, such as e-mails, apps or contacts. The start screen has been expanded so that the user can add up to eleven pages with a total of 180 apps. The messaging app now also supports MMS, the camera video recordings and owners of the iPhone 3GS can record their own voice with the so-called voice memos . iPhone OS 3 added a system-wide cut, copy, or paste dialog box .
