iOS 6 is the sixth major version of the iOS mobile operating system from the US company Apple Inc. It was presented on June 11, 2012 at the Worldwide Developers Conference and published on September 19, 2012 for all users. This is the last major version that supports the iPhone 3GS and the last version that is kept in the so-called skeuomorphism .
iOS 6 was superseded by iOS 7 on September 18, 2013 .
Changes
Apple brought out its own map app, which is now replacing Google Maps . Also new is a dedicated podcast app as a central location for podcasts , as well as a Passbook app for managing different types of tickets, boarding passes, coupons and customer cards. The App Store has been visually revised and now offers a map-based app layout as well as optimizations for search algorithms . Siri has been updated with new functions and Facebook has been integrated into the operating system.
