Harajuku is a singing and dance project founded in 1992 by the German producer Ulrich Moorlampen (Tony O'Melley) .

Together with his partner Thorsten Schotten, the first single, a techno-dance version of the musical hit The Phantom of the opera , achieved worldwide success. The dance project was named after the district of the same name in the Japanese capital Tokyo called Harajuku , which is known for its flashy fashion and extroverted outfits and the corresponding lifestyle. The techno version of the musical hit The Phantom of the opera is characterized by the eccentric singing. The singer is the German pop singer Kristina Bach . For the other productions, different singers were used until 1995 the German singer Stephanie O'Hara (bourgeois Stefanie Obst) was engaged for the project. A large part of the album Just one look was recorded with her . The appearance in the London disco "The Fridge" attracted a lot of attention, which resulted in a placement in the top 10 of the British dance charts.
