Harald Meier (economist)

Harald Meier (born January 20, 1957 in Wipperfürth ) is Professor of Business Administration at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences .

Professional background

After completing a commercial apprenticeship, Meier completed his studies in economics at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal with a degree in economics . He then worked in human resource management at a major international bank, as a freelance personnel consultant and trainer, and later as a partner in an international consulting company and research assistant at the University of Mannheim . He completed his doctorate in 1994 as a Dr. rer. oec. and took over a C2 professorship at the University of Applied Sciences Emden . Since 2002 he has held a C3 professorship at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.

He is the founder and director of the International Institute for Training, Quality and Certification (IftQ-Cert for QM management and certification of entrepreneurship programs) and founder and founder of the meierstiftung for street children in Africa .

Research activity

Meier is one of the first economists who researched the situation in third world countries and especially the child labor that is frequently encountered there . In addition, since the so-called wave of refugees to Germany in 2014/15 , he has been developing programs for operational integration and business start-ups (migrant entrepreneurship) for people with a migration background, among others. a. also in India and African countries.

For several years he has been teaching in Germany (including at the University of Bochum, Steinbeis University) and abroad (for example in the USA and South Korea ). Usually active in university accreditations and advises qualification programs in international development cooperation, u. a. in India and in some African countries . At the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, he worked, among other things, as a practical semester officer, dean and member of the Senate; he was one of the founders of the first MBA course ( CSR & NGO Management) in nonprofit management .

Meier is the author of numerous publications in the form of books, specialist articles in books and specialist journals, learning materials for personnel and management development, training and further education as well as intercultural management , international project management and entrepreneurship .
