Harald Mollers, Minister for Education Research and Education in the German-speaking Community of Belgium

Harald Mollers (born October 10, 1977 in Malmedy ) is a Belgian politician on the ProDG ("Pro German-speaking Community ") open citizen list . He has been a minister in the government of the German-speaking Community since 2009 and is currently responsible for education, research and education.

Life

Harald Mollers studied history at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and graduated in 2000 with a license and a teaching qualification for secondary education ( Agrégation de l'enseignement secondaire supérieur - AESS). From 2000 to 2009 Mollers worked for Dexia Bank, most recently as Managing Director of the bank's four branches in East Belgium. From 2006 to 2009 he was also chairman of the Födekam Music Association .

In June 2009, Harald Mollers ran for the first time in the community elections on the list of the ProDG movement and immediately made it into the parliament of the German-speaking community . As a result of the government negotiations , in which the parties SP (socialist), PFF (liberal) and ProDG (independent / regional) formed a coalition, Mollers became Minister for Health, Family and Social Affairs in the government under Prime Minister Karl-Heinz Lambertz (SP) sworn in. In this context he was responsible for social affairs, family and senior policy, health care, disability policy and youth welfare.

In the community elections on May 2 , 2019, the ProDG became the strongest parliamentary group in the parliament of the German-speaking community.

The existing government coalition with Oliver Paasch (ProDG) as Prime Minister will be continued. Mollers was appointed Minister for Education, Research and Education for the 2019-2024 legislative period.

From January 2010 to February 2013, Harald Mollers was Vice President of ProDG.

Chairman of the Music Association Födekam Ostbelgien (2006–2009).

Mollers has a daughter and a son.
