Harald Oberhofer

Harald Oberhofer (born April 26, 1983 in St. Johann in Tirol ) is an Austrian economist and university professor . Oberhofer has been a university professor at the Institute for International Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business since 2015 and has also been a research assistant at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) since 2015 .

Career

From October 2002, Harald Oberhofer studied social and economic sciences as well as political science at the University of Innsbruck . Oberhofer completed his economics studies in September 2006 with a degree in social and economic sciences ( Mag. Rer. Soc. Oec. ), And political science in October 2008 as a Magister philosphiae ( Mag. Phil. ). Already from October 2006 Harald Oberhofer operating parallel to the Doctoral Program in Social and Economic Sciences and was established in July 2009 with a dissertation on the subject of "Essays on the Economics of Multinational Enterprises" Doctor of Social and Economic Sciences ( soc Dr. rer. Oec. . ) PhD .

From 2006 Harald Oberhofer worked as a project assistant at the Institute for Public Finance at the University of Innsbruck, and from February 2008 as OeNB project assistant at the Institute for Economic Theory, Politics and History. In August 2009 he was appointed assistant professor at the Institute for Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Salzburg , and in October 2014 he was appointed associate professor there. Since March 2015, Harald Oberhofer has been university professor for economics at the Institute for International Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and at the same time research assistant at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO). Since 2018 he has also been Deputy Head of the Institute at the University Institute for International Economics.

Oberhofer's research focuses on industrial economics, innovation and international competition, corporate growth, corporate demographics, international economic relations, foreign direct investment and multinational companies.

Private life

Harald Oberhofer is married and has one child. One of Oberhofer's trademarks is that he always wears a hat.
