Harald Salomon

Harald Salomon (born May 8, 1900 in Kristiania, today Oslo , † September 10, 1990 ) was a Jewish sculptor , medalist and designer .

Life

He received his training as an apprentice from 1916 to 1919 at A. Bundgaard. He then worked for Viggo Brandt and from 1921 to 1922 for CV Aagaard. From May 1922 he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen . In 1925 he became an assistant at the Royal Mint of Denmark in Copenhagen ( Dansk Mønt ), its sub-medalist in 1927, and its chief medalist from 1933 to 1968, with an interruption during World War II, at the time of the German occupation of Denmark. He fled to Sweden via the Öresund in 1943 and became a designer in Stockholm in Rörstrand's porcelain factory.

He died on September 10, 1990.

Works

  • Harald Salomon's work included the production of Danish coins and official Danish state medals.
  • As a medalist for the Royal Mint, he also created the anniversary medals of the Royal Family of Denmark.
