Harfonie is an Austrian music duo that won the fourth season of the casting show Die große Chance in 2014 .
Band history
The two members of Harfonie come from the village of Ranggen near Innsbruck in Tyrol. Hanna Maizner started playing the harp when she was five, Nora-Marie Baumann was also five when she started learning the violin. They also play other instruments such as guitar and clarinet. Both come from musical families, parents and siblings perform in public and took them on stage when they were children. The two come from folk music and began to mix folk music with pop songs at an early age. As teenagers they performed together with the harp as the main instrument at celebrations and school parties.
In 2014 Maizner and Baumann applied at the casting for Die Große Chance at the age of 15 and 13 and were accepted for the live shows. They reached the final and prevailed in the last audience vote against the favorite Petra Mayer , who was just ahead of them in the semifinals. In addition to a joint appearance with Julian le Play , the two also sang the self-composed song Open Your Eyes in the final show on November 7th. Immediately afterwards the song was released as a download and reached number 6 in the charts . Before Christmas, the girls' duo released a second single with Light Up , a composition by Nora's sister Tabea Baumann, and thus reached a top ten position for the second time.
