Hargele (also Hargelle , Harghelle , Argheile ; Amharic ሃርጌሌ Hargēlē ) is the capital of the Afder zone in the Somali region of Ethiopia .

According to the Central Statistics Agency of Ethiopia for 2005, Hargele had 8,246 inhabitants. In 1997, according to the census of 5,515 inhabitants, 5,450 (98.82%) were Somali , 39 Amhars , twelve Oromo and eleven Tigray .

According to the documents of the Central Statistics Agency from 1998 and 2005, Hargele belongs within the Afder zone to the woreda Afder. A map of the Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Agency from 2006, on the other hand, shows Hargele's own woreda, which was formed from a part of the woreda Afder. The division within the Somali region has been changed several times, often in the context of local power struggles.
