Crepis sibthorpiana is a plant type from the family Asteraceae (Asteraceae). It is named in honor of the botanist John Sibthorp .
description
Crepis sibthorpiana is a perennial stem hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 3 to 12 centimeters. The stem has short, bulky, strong branches. The basal leaves are 20 to 60 millimeters long and deeply saw-shaped-lyre-shaped, their end section is large. The shell is 8 to 11 millimeters long, short and densely gray-tomentose. The outer bracts reach up to a third of the length of the inner bracts. The outside of the ray-florets is reddish-purple in color. The fruits are 3 to 5.5 millimeters long, brown and have 10 equal ribs.
The flowering period extends from June to September.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 8.
Occurrence
Crepis sibthorpiana is in Crete in the regional districts of Chania and Rethymno endemic . The species grows here in the Lefka Ori and in the Ida Mountains on stony and rocky limestone soils, on rubble heaps and in sinkholes at altitudes of 1000 to 2450 meters.
