Harmonized list of goods

The Harmonized List of Goods ( French : Nomenclature harmonisée des marchandises NHM ) is a system of the International Union of Railways for the uniform classification of goods in rail freight transport . The NHM number identifies an internationally uniform item of transport .

The NHM codes have 6 or 8 digits and are based on the statistical goods number and customs tariff numbers.
