Harpalus (astronomer)
Harpalos ( ancient Greek Ἅρπαλος ) was an astronomer from ancient Greece . The exact dates of his life are not known. He is younger than Cleostratos and older than Meton . His work is believed to have been around 450 BC. To be set. According to Censorinus , he is said to have determined the length of the year to be 365 days and 13 hours and based on this an improved system of octaeteris .
The moon crater Harpalus is named after him.
