Harpalus is an impact crater in the northwest of the front of the moon , northeast of the Sinus Roris in the plain of the Mare Frigoris . The crater has pronounced terracing and an extensive ejecta cover in the area. The central mountain consists of three peaks. To the east of Harpalus is the small Bouguer crater .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek astronomer Harpalos .

In the US science fiction film Destination Moon ( Destination Moon ) from 1950 lands the spaceship of the expedition in the crater Harpalus.
