The Red Bull RB8 is the eighth Formula 1 - racing cars of Red Bull Racing . It was used in the 2012 Formula 1 season ; the engine supplier was Renault , as in the previous year . It was featured on the team website on February 6, 2012. With this racing car, Sebastian Vettel defended his world title and Red Bull the constructors' championship.

Technology and development

The Red Bull RB8 was the successor to the Red Bull RB7 . It was the third evolutionary stage of the Red Bull RB5 , on which all Red Bull models up to 2013 were based. A noticeable feature of the car was the "hump" in the area of the front suspension which, however, had a small slit. Like its predecessor models, the vehicle was created under the direction of Adrian Newey .

The transmission was a Red Bull in-house design, the fuel and lubricants were supplied by Total . The RS27-2012 engine was 750 hp and comes from Renault . As with all other teams, Pirelli provided the tires .

Painting and sponsorship

The RB8 with the special paint for the Faces for Charity fundraising campaign

The basic color of the Red Bull RB8 was dark blue. Large-scale sponsor stickers from Red Bull were placed on the vehicle : the Red Bull logo on the bonnet and front wing, the Red Bull lettering on the side pods. Other sponsors on the vehicle were Infiniti , Rauch , Renault and Total.

At the British Grand Prix , Red Bull had a special paint job applied to the RB8 for the Faces for Charity campaign . As in 2007, at the British Grand Prix , all photos of the donors were distributed across the entire vehicle. With this campaign, Red Bull supported the Wings for Life spinal cord research foundation .

driver

The team stuck to the driver duo Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber for the 2012 season . Sébastien Buemi was the test and reserve driver .
