The McLaren MP4-27 is the Formula 1 - racing cars from McLaren for the Formula 1 2012 season . It was the 40th Formula 1 racing car from the racing team founded in 1965. It was powered by a Mercedes engine. The vehicle was unveiled on February 1, 2012 at McLaren's headquarters in Woking , UK .
Technology and development
The McLaren MP4-27 was the successor to the McLaren MP4-26 . The design of the car was modified due to the regulation-related change in the exhaust position. Compared to the previous model, the U-shaped side boxes have been replaced by a classic variant. The stern was also built slimmer and lower. The McLaren MP4-27 was developed under the direction of Paddy Lowe (technical director), Tim Goss (chief engineer) and Neil Oatley (chief designer).
The transmission was a McLaren in-house design. The fuel and lubricants were supplied by ExxonMobil . The engine, a 2.4 liter V8, and the KERS came from Mercedes AMG HPP . The tires were provided by Pirelli .
Painting and sponsorship
Much of the McLaren MP4-27 was painted chrome. The side pods as well as the front and rear wings , on the other hand, had a red base color, based on the title sponsor Vodafone . Other major sponsors on the vehicle and the team clothing were Hugo Boss , Johnnie Walker , Lucozade , Mercedes-Benz , Mobil 1 and Santander .
driver
McLaren stuck to the driver duo of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton for the 2012 season . The rollout of the McLaren MP4-27 was carried out during straight-ahead test drives on the first weekend in February by test driver Oliver Turvey .
