The Red Bull RB11 is the eleventh Formula 1 - racing cars of Red Bull Racing . It will be used in the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship . It was presented to the public on February 1, 2015 at the Circuito de Jerez .

Technology and development

The RB11 is the successor to the RB10 . Although the vehicle is a further development of the previous model, it is visually different due to rule changes for the 2015 Formula 1 season, as the provisions in the area of the vehicle nose have been changed. The nose of the car is very short and does not protrude forward beyond the front wing, at the tip it tapers sharply, similar to the Williams FW37 .

The vehicle has a system that directs air through hollow axle beams on the front axle to the wheel hub to improve airflow around the front wheels. The side pods have been significantly reduced in size as the coolers have been repositioned inside. Under the airbox, the air inlet above the cockpit, there are two smaller air inlets. The air flowing in here is used to cool the engine electronics.

The car only passed the required crash tests on January 31, 2015, one day before the first test drives before the season.

The RB11 is powered by the Renault Energy F1 2015 , a 1.6-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger .

Painting and sponsorship

The vehicle was painted completely black and white when it was presented and tested before the season. In addition to the sponsor's lettering, the paintwork consisted of many black and white lines that showed irregular shapes. This design was reminiscent of the scribble foil used for camouflage by Erlkönigen . Similar to the vehicle manufacturers at Erlkönigen, Red Bull also wanted to disguise the exact shape of the vehicle and aerodynamic details in this way.

On March 2, 2015, the final paintwork of the vehicle was presented. The basic colors are purple and dark blue. The total logos on the front wing end plates and the rear wing give the vehicle additional red color accents when viewed from the side. In addition to sponsor stickers from Infiniti, large stickers from Red Bull are placed on the side pods, the Red Bull logo on the bonnet and nose, the Red Bull lettering on the front and rear wings and on the side of the monocoque . Other visible sponsors are Renault , Rauch and Casio .

driver

Red Bull Racing competed in the 2015 season with the driver duo Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kwjat , who, like his team-mate , moved to the team from sister racing team Toro Rosso a year earlier . Here he replaced Sebastian Vettel , who was now running for Ferrari after six years at Red Bull .
