The Red Bull RB4 was the fourth Formula 1 racing car from Red Bull Racing . The car designed by Adrian Newey took part in all 18 races of the 2008 Formula 1 season and was driven by Scots David Coulthard and Australian Mark Webber . The RS27 V8 engine came from Renault.

The Toro-Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel got the chance to drive David Coulthard's RB4 on February 19 during the test day in Barcelona because he had pinched a nerve. On that day, Vettel completed 110 laps and set the seventh fastest time. At the end of this test day, Mark Webber only had the 17th fastest time after 58 laps, but on that day he also tested a new aerodynamics package.

Season course

The season started with a double failure of both cars. Webber was involved in a start collision and Coulthard collided with Felipe Massa after 25 laps . In the following five races, Webber scored points every time, while Coulthard remained without points. With a third place in subsequent races in Canada , Coulthard achieved his first point placement of the season - it was also the only podium finish for an RB4. One race later, Webber finished sixth again in the points. In the following four races, neither driver scored any points. Again it was Webber, who ensured two more points. This was followed with a seventh place by Coulthard and an eighth place by Webber, which were also the last point placements of the season. The team finished the season in seventh place in the constructors' championship and was still behind the sister team Toro Rosso.
