The 2008 Monaco Grand Prix took place on May 25th at the Circuit de Monaco in Monaco and was the sixth race of the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship . The winner was Lewis Hamilton ( McLaren-Mercedes ) in front of Robert Kubica ( BMW Sauber ) and Felipe Massa ( Ferrari ).

After the Turkish Grand Prix , Kimi Räikkönen led the drivers' standings by seven points over his teammates Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton . Ferrari led the constructors' championship by 19 points over BMW Sauber and 21 points over McLaren-Mercedes .

As always, the first two free practice sessions were held in Monaco on Thursday. As usual, the third free practice took place on Saturday morning. In the first free practice, Kimi Raikkonen was the fastest ahead of Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Heikki Kovalainen . Hamilton set the fastest lap in the second free practice session, followed by Nico Rosberg in the Williams and Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari . In the final training on Saturday, the two McLaren , Kovalainen dominated in front of Hamilton and Raikkonen.

Qualifying

Felipe Massa achieved pole position with a lap time of 1: 15.787 ahead of his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Lewis Hamilton drove in third place; he was followed by Kovalainen, Kubica, Rosberg, Alonso and Trulli.
