The Harris Corporation was an international manufacturer of communications equipment and radar installations in the area of military technology . The company's headquarters were in Melbourne , Florida .
history
The Harris Automatic Press Company was founded in Niles , Ohio in 1895 and initially developed lithographic printing machines . On July 13, 1955, the company went public on the NYSE . In 1959, the radar technology manufacturer " PRD Electronics of Brooklyn, New York " was acquired, followed by an association with " Radiation, Inc. of Melbourne " in 1967 , from which time semiconductors were also manufactured. In 1979 a joint venture was founded with Matra under the name Matra Harris Semiconductors . In 1988, Harris acquired the semiconductor company Intersil from General Electric . Eleven years later, in 1999, the semiconductor division was spun off again as Intersil.
Harris Corporation merged with L3 Technologies to form L3Harris Technologies in July 2019 .

RF & Government Communications
Harris RF Communications was one of the world's leading manufacturers of wireless communications equipment for military applications. The Falcon series of radios were the first commercially available that were based exclusively on digital circuit technology. Most recently, the product range mainly comprised digital radio signal receivers and radio data modules for OEM use.
Broadcast Communications
Harris Broadcast Communications developed and produced mainly equipment for satellite links in OB vans , there were, however, intercom systems for use in television production.
