The Harris Lake (officially Shearon Harris Reservoir ) is a lake in New Hill in the US state of North Carolina . It is fed by Buckhorn Creek . Its area is 16.6 km² and is located in Wake and Chatham Counties and is mainly used by the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant . The lake is adjacent to Jordan Lake , but is not connected to it. According to anglers, the fish in the lake are said to be larger in size, due to the warmer water temperature caused by the cooling of the nuclear reactor .

There are two docking ramps for boats by the lake.
