Harrisia fernowii is a species of plant in the genus Harrisia fromthe cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet fernowii honors the American forester Bernhard E. Fernow (1851–1923).
description
Harrisia fernowii grows with multiple branched, light green shoots up to 2.5 centimeters in diameter and reaches heights of 2.5 to 3 meters. There are nine not very protruding, shallowly notched ribs . The eight to eleven light brown thorns have a darker tip and are up to 6 inches long.
The flowers have a length of up to 20 centimeters. Your flower tube and the pericarpel are covered with pointed, 1 to 2 centimeters long scales and tufts of long, brown hair.
Distribution and systematics
Harrisia fernowii is common in Cuba .
The first description was in 1908 by Nathaniel Lord Britton .
