Harry Schaffer

Harry Schaffer (born 1963 in Chur ) is a Swiss artist and interior designer who lives and works in Basel .

life and work

Schaffer grew up in Allschwil / BL and Olten / SO. In 1983 he graduated from high school. He then attended the arts and crafts school and completed an apprenticeship as a draftsman in Basel. After various study stays in the USA, he studied at the University of Design and Art in Basel. He completed his degree as Master of Design I Art & Innovation . Today Schaffer is the owner of an interior design studio and a planning company for sustainable projects in Basel.

Harry Schaffer positions himself with his works in the thematic areas of Land Art and Minimal Art . For many years he has been working with the Franco-German artist Wolf Warnke. His main themes are the circle and the square, on which he modulates and experiments in a wide variety of materials and sizes and in different locations around the world. His series of works ranges from brief interventions with natural materials to sculptures made of steel or granite. He deals with the environment and the proportions of the golden section, which are represented again and again in his works.

Schaffer has three daughters.
