Hartley Howard

Hartley Howard , actually Leopold Horace Ognall (born June 20, 1908 in Montreal , Québec , † Great Britain ) was an English journalist and writer . In addition to Hartley Howard , Ognall also used the pseudonym Harry Carmichael , which was composed of the first name of his wife and those of his children.

Live and act

Howard was born in Montreal and spent his school days there. His first literary attempts also resulted from this time. He later wrote for several Canadian and British newspapers.

After the Second World War , he was active in the administration of the British Army , he settled in Great Britain. There he married Cecilia Ognall and had a daughter, Margaret, and two sons, Michael and Harry with her.
