Hartmut Usadel (born December 22, 1933 in Potsdam ; † October 18, 2018 in Mallorca , Spain ) was a German-Spanish painter .

Live and act

Hartmut Usadel, son of Georg Usadel , completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in 1952. From 1954 to 1958 he studied at the State Art Academy in Stuttgart . There he enjoyed the lessons from Willi Baumeister , who also taught him privately. During his studies, Usadel spent some time in the south of France.

After graduating, Usadel lived and worked in Ibiza from 1959 to 1962 and in the Caribbean from 1966 to 1967. Usadel had exhibitions of his painting in New York, London, Berlin and Paris, among others. From 1977 to 1990 Usadel ran a gallery in S'Arraco, Mallorca, and from 1990 to 1994 a gallery in Andratx, Mallorca.

From 1997 Usadel and Tina Horne ran the Sa Taronja cultural association in Andratx, Mallorca. Usadel had lived in Mallorca since 1962 and took Spanish citizenship in 1980.

Hartmut Usadel died on October 18, 2018 in his home on Mallorca at the age of 84. He left behind his wife and two children.
